Srinagar: A powerful message of faith, resistance, and rights echoed in Budgam, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, as mourners condemned the decades-long ban on the traditional Ashoora procession route from Abi Guzar to Zadibal in Srinagar, calling it a blatant denial of basic religious rights.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing the gathering at Zehra Park in the district, prominent speaker Agha Mujtaba highlighted the long-standing grievances of the Shia community and voiced concern over global injustices.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor over thirty years, we have been prevented from holding our sacred procession, despite official claims of peace and normalcy in Kashmir,\u201d Agha Mujtaba said, strongly criticizing the continued ban on the traditional Ashoora route. He pointed out the selective enforcement of restrictions, where other congregations are allowed while Muslim religious events and access to Srinagar\u2019s historic Jamia Masjid remain curtailed.<\/p>\n

The crowd responded with slogans demanding the restoration of religious freedoms and an end to discriminatory policies.<\/p>\n

The speaker also condemned the recent opening of a liquor shop in Batmaloo, terming it a direct affront to Islamic values in a Muslim-majority territory.<\/p>\n

He further raised the issue of harassment of mourners by police, especially after processions in Srinagar. \u201cSuch actions only deepen the divide and alienate the community,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n
