\"\"New Delhi: Driven by an obsessive quest for regional dominance, the Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime continues to unleash barbaric measures to suppress dissent and silence voices advocating for democratic rights in India.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian government, in blatant disregard for international norms and human rights standards, is resorting to savage tactics, as evidenced by the recent drone attacks on activists in Assam and Manipur.<\/p>\n

Despite calling itself the world\u2019s largest democracy, India has systematically deprived its minorities, particularly Muslims, of their fundamental democratic rights. In the northeastern states, including Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura, those demanding their rights are subjected to brutal repression. The Modi government has given a free hand to security forces to crush these movements through sheer violence.<\/p>\n

On July 14, Indian forces launched drone attacks using 150 Israeli- and French-made drones on camps of the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), People\u2019s Liberation Army of Manipur, and Revolutionary People\u2019s Front. These attacks were carried from the India-Myanmar border near Longwa (Nagaland) and Pangsau Pass (Arunachal Pradesh), into Myanmar\u2019s Sagaing region. The first attack killed senior ULFA leader Nayan and injured over 19 others, while subsequent strikes killed key leaders Ganesh and Pradeep Asom. Although Indian forces distanced themselves from the strikes, eyewitnesses from Arunachal Pradesh confirmed the army\u2019s involvement.<\/p>\n

ULFA issued a statement accusing the Indian army of carrying out cross-border drone strikes that killed three commanders and 20 fighters, vowing to avenge the assault. Meanwhile, Manipur remains in turmoil since May 3, 2023, due to ongoing ethnic violence between Meitei (Hindu) and Kuki (Christian) tribes, which has so far claimed over 250 lives and displaced more than 60,000 people. The Modi regime has unleashed state forces to brutally suppress the Christian Kuki community\u2014using fake encounters to kill Kuki men and employing rape as a weapon of war against women. The Kukis are being denied their most basic right to life, as the BJP government backs the majority Meitei group.<\/p>\n

Amnesty International, in a special report marking two years of violence in Manipur, condemned the Indian government\u2019s failure to rehabilitate displaced populations. The report released in May 2025 criticized the government for lacking a comprehensive policy to meet the humanitarian needs of the displaced, forcing tens of thousands to live under inhumane conditions. It also exposed contradictions in the government\u2019s claims, noting that despite an earlier statement that Rs 21.7 million had been allocated for rehabilitation, Home Minister Amit Shah later admitted that no such funds had yet been approved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
