Srinagar: Hurriyat leaders in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have reaffirmed that the ongoing freedom movement in the territory is a wholly indigenous struggle, rooted in the collective will and historical aspirations of the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the leaders in their statements issued in Srinagar emphasized that the people of Kashmir are waging a just and legitimate struggle to exercise their UN-recognized right to self-determination. They said the resistance in Kashmir is not imported, but born of the soil, echoing decades of Kashmiri yearning for freedom from Indian occupation.<\/p>\n
Dismissing New Delhi\u2019s repeated claims of external involvement, the Hurriyat leaders pointed out that daily sacrifices by Kashmiri youth and civilians shatter the myth of a “foreign hand.” They stressed that the participation of the young generation in peaceful protests, political activities, and resistance underlines the indigenous and homegrown nature of the movement.<\/p>\n
The leaders asserted that India\u2019s propaganda campaign to malign the Kashmiri struggle by branding it as terrorism or externally sponsored is aimed at discrediting a lawful resistance against military occupation. They said India cannot mislead the international community through fabricated narratives.<\/p>\n
They reminded New Delhi that international law grants oppressed peoples the right to resist occupation, including through armed struggle, and that seeking self-determination is a right\u2014not a crime. \u201cThe Modi regime will ultimately fail in its bid to delegitimize the Kashmiri movement.
