\"\"Jammu: In Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian police have not allowed Congress to hold a protest rally for restoration of statehood and detained several leaders and workers, including party president Tariq Hameed Karra and General Secretary GA Mir.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the police have not allowed the Congress of occupied Jammu and Kashmir chapter to hold a rally under the banner of \u201cOur State, Our Right\u201d.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of Congress workers led by Karra and GA Mir gathered at the party headquarters at Shaheed Chowk in the heart of Jammu and wanted to march to Governor\u2019s House to submit a memorandum to New Delhi-imposed Lieutenant Governor of the occupied territory, Manoj Sinha, but the police stopped them from moving forward and arrested dozens of workers, including Karra and Mir.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Tariq Hameed Karra in statement condemned the police action. He said that they wanted to submit a memorandum to the Lieutenant Governor mentioning the people’s desire but were not allowed to do so.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cDespite being stopped from protesting in Srinagar and Jammu, we will go to New Delhi and protest on the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament. He said they will also try to surround Parliament and try to wake up this deaf, blind and disabled BJP government so that it grants statehood to Jammu and Kashmir as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
