New Delhi: India\u2019 s lower house of parliament, the Lok Sabha, has witnessed uproarious scenes as opposition parties protested against being denied a discussion on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack on the opening day of the Monsoon Session on Monday.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, accused the Modi government of silencing opposition voices while allowing its own members to speak freely.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the Leader of the Opposition, it is my right to speak in the House, but I am not being allowed, while the government\u2019s members are free to make their statements,\u201d he told reporters.<\/p>\n
His remarks came after the House was adjourned twice\u2014first till noon and again till 2 p.m.\u2014amid relentless sloganeering by opposition MPs demanding a debate on the recent incidents.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the House, the Defence Minister is allowed to speak; their people are allowed to speak. But when the Opposition wants to say something, they are not allowed. We just wanted to say a few words,\u201d Rahul Gandhi said.<\/p>\n
He also took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming he \u201cran out of the House in a second.\u201d<\/p>\n
Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh assured the House that the government is fully prepared for a detailed discussion on matters of national security, including the Pahalgam attack. \u201cWe are completely ready to participate in any such discussion, whenever the Speaker allots time,\u201d Singh said.<\/p>\n
