New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has once again criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government for their continued silence over US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a post on X, Ramesh, who serves as the Congress General Secretary in charge of Communications, highlighted that Trump has publicly claimed credit 25 times in the past 73 days for \u201cstopping a war\u201d between the two South Asian neighbors. Despite this, the Modi government has offered no official response.<\/p>\n
He also attacked the Modi government for not providing a definite date for discussing the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor that followed.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the Modi government continues in its refusal to give firm dates for a debate on Pahalgam-Sindoor in Parliament and as the Modi government persists in its refusal to commit to a reply by the PM in the debate, President Trump reaches the silver jubilee, the quarter century mark on his claims. He has trumpeted 25 times in the last 73 days, but the Prime Minister of India is totally quiet \u2013 finding time only to travel abroad and to destabilise democratic institutions at home,\u201d Ramesh wrote.<\/p>\n
The Congress leader was responding to a recent statement made by Donald Trump, where he once against claimed credit for \u201cstopping the war between India and Pakistan\u201d in the name of trade deals.<\/p>\n
The Indian opposition leaders have been demanding that Prime Minister Modi address both houses of parliament and the nation on crucial issues, including the Pahalgam attack.
