Mirpur: Speakers at a seminar in Mirpur city of Azad Jammu and Kashmir called on the international community to play its role in securing the release of Kashmiri political prisoners languishing in Indian jails under baseless and fabricated charges.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar titled \u201cPrisoners of Jammu & Kashmir and the Right to Self-Determination\u201d was organized by the Peace Group of Journalists.<\/p>\n

Prominent speakers included former Chief Justice of the AJK Supreme Court Raja Azam, Executive Director of the Peace Group Saeed-ur-Rehman Siddiqui, APHC-AJK leaders Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Shamim Shawl, Rafiq Ahmad Dar, Altaf Ahmad Bhat, Raja Waseem Advocate, Bashir Ahmad Shagoo, Malik Aslam, senior journalist Raees Mir, Abdur Rehman, and others.<\/p>\n

They strongly demanded the immediate release of APHC Chairman Musarrat Alam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Nahida Nasreen, Fahmida Sofi, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam, Merajuddin Kalwal, Peer Saifullah, Zafar Akbar Butt, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Molvi Bashir Irfani, Bilal Siddiqi, Amir Hamza, Khurram Parvez, and thousands of other Kashmiris who remain incarcerated in various Indian jails.<\/p>\n

The speakers reaffirmed that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are engaged in a peaceful struggle for their UN-acknowledged right to self-determination. They urged the global community to listen to the voices of the oppressed Kashmiris and hold India accountable for its ongoing human rights abuses in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).<\/p>\n

A declaration issued at the seminar appealed to the international community to take concrete steps to end India\u2019s state-sponsored terrorism in IIOJK and help the Kashmiri people realize their inalienable right to self-determination.<\/p>\n

The participants also paid glowing tribute to the Pakistan Army for the successful conduct of ‘Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos’ and for effectively foiling India\u2019s malicious designs against Pakistan and the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
