Jammu: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah have slammed the BJP-led Indian regime for its rigid and failed policies in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, addressing a press conference in Jammu, advocated a dialogue with the people of J&K before starting talks with Pakistan, stating that the BJP\u2019s rigid policy has only \u201csilenced the people\u201d of the territory where a \u201cvolcano is building\u201d that needs to be addressed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe developments of August 5, 2019 when New Delhi revoked special status of Kashmir under Article 370 and bifurcated the territory into two Union Territories destroyed J&K on the pretext of improving the situation and restoring peace. People were promised rivers of milk and honey,\u201d Mufti said.<\/p>\n
Mufti said the strict policy adopted by the BJP, which saw thousands of youth being jailed under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Public Safety Act (PSA), has \u201cfailed miserably\u201d. \u201cJ&K continues to be the flashpoint between India and Pakistan with clouds of war hovering over the region,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She urged New Delhi to revisit the 2015 \u2018Agenda of Alliance\u2019 between PDP and BJP, which she said offered a roadmap for a peaceful and honourable resolution of the J&K dispute, including cross-LoC confidence-building measures, revocation of draconian laws, and return of power projects.<\/p>\n
In a separate media interaction, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah once again criticised the BJP-led Indian government, accusing it of failing to address the long-standing demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir\u2019s statehood. He reiterated his party\u2019s consistent demand for the restoration of full statehood to occupied Jammu and Kashmir. \u201cWe believe our rights will be restored. We are not like them; we trust in the Almighty,\u201d Abdullah said.<\/p>\n
He also warned of growing economic distress, citing US tariff measures and accusing the BJP of pushing India into crisis while prioritizing rhetoric over reality. \u201cThe groundwork for India\u2019s economic destruction is being laid while industries shift abroad,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
