{"id":180599,"date":"2025-08-05T16:33:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-05T11:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/?p=180599"},"modified":"2025-08-05T16:33:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T11:33:10","slug":"august-5-2019-darkest-day-in-iiojks-history-mohsin-naqvi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/2025\/08\/05\/august-5-2019-darkest-day-in-iiojks-history-mohsin-naqvi.html","title":{"rendered":"August 5, 2019 \u201cdarkest day\u201d in IIOJK\u2019s history: Mohsin Naqvi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-180600 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/assests\/2025\/08\/Screenshot-2025-08-05-at-4.31.55-PM-390x213.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"390\" height=\"213\" \/>Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has strongly condemned India\u2019s continued occupation and human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, calling August 5 the \u201cdarkest day\u201d in the region\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kashmir Media Service, Mohsin Naqvi in a special message issued on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal lashed out at the Modi government for its unilateral revocation of Article 370 and 35A, stripping the region of its special constitutional status in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAugust 5 is the darkest day in the history of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir,\u201d said Naqvi. \u201cBy distorting the special constitutional identity of the region, India has openly violated United Nations Security Council resolutions and international law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Naqvi said the Indian government is launching a calculated campaign to erode Kashmiri identity and suppress the people\u2019s right to self-determination. \u201cThe Modi regime has used brute force to snatch away the constitutional rights, identity, and freedom of Kashmiris. It is nothing less than an assault on their existence,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n<p>He highlighted a litany of human rights abuses taking place in the territory since the revocation, including extrajudicial killings, suppression of free speech, media blackouts, prolonged curfews, and widespread violence. \u201cThe valley has been turned into a graveyard of human rights,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Naqvi expressed deep concern over the demographic changes being imposed through the new domicile laws introduced by India. \u201cMillions of Hindu settlers are being granted domicile in Kashmir with the sole aim of turning the local Muslim majority into a minority. This is a direct attack on the cultural and ethnic identity of the region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Calling out the silence of the international community, Naqvi said, \u201cThe crisis in occupied Kashmir is a sad reflection of global apathy. Even the sincere offer of mediation by former U.S. President Donald Trump was flatly rejected by the Modi administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He warned that India\u2019s unilateral and provocative actions posed a severe threat to regional peace and stability. \u201cSouth Asia cannot afford another conflict.
