According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Srinagar on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal, Agha Hassan reiterated his organisation\u2019s longstanding opposition to the Indian government\u2019s unilateral, undemocratic, and unconstitutional decisions of August 5, 2019. He said these measures not only undermined the constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir but also deprived its people of their political, social, and economic rights.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the use of force, detentions, and bans on political activities have failed to resolve the issue and, instead, have added further complexity to the ground situation. \u201cHistory has shown that such coercive tactics only worsen matters rather than bring peace or normalcy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Agha Hassan maintained that dialogue, reconciliation, and restoration of mutual trust are the only viable paths to resolving the Kashmir dispute. He urged the Indian government to release all political prisoners detained in Tihar and other jails, withdraw FIRs against thousands of Kashmiri youth, and initiate inclusive measures for reconciliation and engagement with the younger generation.<\/p>\n

He added that sustainable peace and development in the region are only possible if all stakeholders approach the issue with realism, justice, and a genuine commitment to dialogue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
