He said that Omar Abdullah’s body language clearly reflected defeat and helplessness. “Kashmiris voted for him to fight for the restoration of their rights and identity, but he has achieved nothing. He has even stopped talking about restorating Article 370 and now only discusses statehood,” he said.

Agha Hadi said that what happened to Kashmiris on August 5, 2019, has effectively been accepted by Omar Abdullah. “He was given a mandate to fight for rights, but he compromised. Once again Kashmiris have been deceived—Omar Abdullah wanted the chair, and he got it,” he said.

He further criticized the last elections, saying Kashmiris were left with two options: bad and worse. “They rejected the BJP as the worst and voted for the National Conference, overlooking Omar Abdullah’s shortcomings to give him a chance to make things right. But in a year, he failed to deliver, leaving people disappointed,” he said.

Agha Hadi also slammed Omar Abdullah’s plan to go door-to-door to collect signatures on a statehood restoration document. “The people gave him a mandate to fight for their rights, not to gather signatures”.

He said, “India has already taken everything from Kashmiris—first replacing the Prime Minister with a Chief Minister, then the President with a Governor, and finally removing Article 370 six years ago”.

He added that Omar Abdullah’s speech reflected his lack of authority and weakness. “Saying he will go door-to-door was shameful. His words prove that he is powerless and a weak Chief Minister,” Hadi said.

Noting a recent Indian Supreme Court hearing on the petition for statehood restoration, Agha Hadi said the apex court referred to the Pahalgam incident and gave the anti-Kashmiri and anti-Islam BJP eight weeks to respond on whether Kashmiris would be granted statehood. He said that the court’s Pahalgam reference and eight-week period clearly show that Omar Abdullah will not get statehood for now.

Concluding, he said, “Omar Abdullah will gain nothing because he is not a fighter. Rights must be claimed through struggle, but he and his father, Farooq Abdullah, insist that we should not confront Delhi to secure them.”

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Prominent religious scholar Agha Syed Mohammad Hadi has strongly criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, saying that Kashmiris elected him to restore their rights and dignity, but he has failed to meet their expectations.
