Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced that the political struggle for the restoration of statehood to the territory will now begin anew.<\/div>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to media persons in Srinagar, Omar Abdullah said, \u201cThe expectations we had from this Parliament session have not been met\u201d. \u201cWe are going to launch a mission from now onwards. We didn\u2019t expect to put in such efforts, as we believed the promises made to the people would be fulfilled.\u201d He added that they have now decided to work proactively with regard to the statehood restoration.<\/div>\n

Earlier, there was strong speculation about statehood being restored to IIOJK, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself repeatedly expressing hope that it would happen during the current Monsoon session of Parliament.<\/div>\n

On the BJP-led Indian govt\u2019s proposed bills, including the Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Omar Abdullah questioned the intent behind the move. \u201cSo far, only opposition leaders have been targeted in the cases filed\u201d. \u201cIf the aim is to eradicate corruption, then the government must clarify what has been achieved since it assumed office in 2014,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n

\u201cI fear that this law too will be misused. I want to remind my friends in the BJP that they won\u2019t remain in power forever. The laws they are enacting today could be used against them tomorrow.
