London: Indians have recorded the steepest rise in sex crime convictions among foreign nationals in the United Kingdom, exposing the impunity they enjoy under India\u2019s fragile judicial system while facing accountability abroad.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, an analysis of British government data by the Centre for Migration Control (CMC) revealed that convictions of Indian nationals for sexual offences surged by 257 percent between 2021 and 2024, making them the highest among foreign offenders. Indian nationals logged 100 cases in 2024, up from just 28 in 2021, showing a sharp yearly escalation.<\/p>\n
The study noted that overall convictions of foreign nationals for sexual offences in the UK increased by 62 percent in the same period. Nigerians, Iraqis, Sudanese and Afghans followed Indians in the top five nationalities with the highest conviction hikes.<\/p>\n
The data also highlighted that Indians ranked third among foreign nationals convicted of serious non-summary crimes, recording a 115 percent increase in such offences, with 588 cases logged in 2024 compared to 273 in 2021.<\/p>\n
Analysts said these figures underline a disturbing trend: while sexual crimes by Indians often go unpunished in their own country due to weak policing and a compromised judiciary, offenders are being caught and convicted when abroad under stricter law enforcement.<\/p>\n
The CMC report further pointed out that Indian nationals also rank high in immigration detention figures in the UK and remain among the largest groups applying for work, study, and tourist visas.<\/p>\n
