Srinagar: The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) has said that it will seek court permission to enable its president and Baramulla MP, Er Rashid, to participate in the Vice Presidential election scheduled for September 9.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, AIP\u2019s Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi, currently in New Delhi, said the party has directed its legal counsel to apply before the competent court, arguing that it is both Rashid\u2019s \u201cdemocratic right and constitutional duty\u201d as a Member of Parliament to be part of the electoral process.<\/p>\n

As part of preparations, Chairman of AIP\u2019s Parliamentary Affairs Committee and MLA Sheikh Khursheed met Rashid\u2019s counsel, Advocate Vikhyat Oberoi, in New Delhi to discuss the legal strategy and ensure the application is filed without delay.<\/p>\n
