The General officer tried to “set the record straight” by projecting himself as the main executor of Operation Sindoor.

The Indian General alleged that the Pahalgam attack was executed by Pakistan’s proxies on direct instructions from across the border. However, the contradictory investigations, arrests and ever-changing Indian statements clearly undermine the credibility of this claim.

He portrayed the operation as a shift from restraint to decisive response. In reality, India’s strategic missteps exposed glaring weaknesses in intelligence coordination, air defense and politico-military cohesion, vulnerabilities that Pakistan skillfully exploited through calculated maneuvers.

Mounting political pressure on the BJP coupled with unanswered questions forced the Indian leadership to cover its failures with carefully crafted narratives. India scrambled to de-escalate within just 30 minutes, a clear sign that its misadventure had spectacularly backfired.

While Defence Minister Rajnath Singh denied any ceasefire discussions, credible reports confirm that US President Donald Trump played a pivotal role in brokering peace, further exposing contradictions in India’s narrative.

India projected Pakistan’s COAS Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s April 16 Islamabad speech, where he reaffirmed the Two-Nation Theory and declared Kashmir as the “jugular vein,” as provocation for the Pahalgam attack. In fact, he merely reiterated Pakistan’s established national policy reflecting the collective voice of the people.

Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma’s circular arguments, if followed by others, would only invite devastating consequences. The Indian military leadership acting as BJP’s political mouthpiece has consequently become a global laughing stock.

The Indian General accused Pakistan of running a proxy war since the 1990s through infiltration and ceasefire violations. The reality, however, is that Pakistan never infiltrated across the border but responded defensively from its own territory with calculated strikes destroying Indian command-and-control centres and hundreds of posts.

He claimed that Operation Sindoor commenced at 0105 hours on May 7 with simultaneous precision strikes and that valuable lessons were drawn from post-strike assessments. Yet the evidence shows India primarily targeted civilians, killing children and women and destroying mosques, schools and churches under the pretext of hitting “terrorist camps,” a narrative disapproved by international media.

The General alleged that Pakistan retaliated with intense shelling within 30 minutes to which India responded with “superior firepower” firing over 30,000 artillery/mortar rounds and 300,000 small-arms rounds. The fact remains: Pakistan’s defensive actions, not infiltration, neutralized Indian positions and inflicted heavy losses.

He further claimed that four infiltration attempts were foiled and four launch pads destroyed within 88 hours. In truth the operation was an utter failure, Pakistan shot down seven Indian jets and nearly a hundred drones while India’s claims of destroying targets inside Pakistan were dismissed by international media as propaganda.

The General boasted of a 97-day joint operation by the Army, JKP, CRPF and Special Forces that eliminated three terrorists marking a shift from built-up areas to forests and caves. In reality India used “counter-terrorism” as a cover to terrorize locals, killing innocent Kashmiris and labeling them as militants, continuing a decades-long policy of repression.

He claimed the IAF conducted punitive precision strikes to establish deterrence and showcase zero tolerance for terrorism. However, respected Indian defence analyst Pravin Sawhney himself exposed the IAF’s lackluster performance while Pakistan’s swift and vigorous response shattered India’s hegemonic ambitions and dismantled its air superiority within hours.

The Indian General claimed Northern Command was the main executor across AGPL, LoC, IB and LAC. In reality, such a wide span exposed India’s coordination failures, reflected in delayed responses and contradictory official statements. If command had been effective, these operational lapses would not have occurred.

He alleged that seven camps were struck, the Air Force hit Muridke and Bahawalpur, and the Navy ensured escalation dominance. Yet international media found no evidence of damage at these sites, Pakistan released footage showing only civilian areas hit, and the Indian Navy never moved beyond posturing. These facts prove India’s claims were propaganda, not battlefield success.

Islamabad: Indian Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma is propagating Bharatiya Janata Party’s narrative related to Operation Sindoor.
