Tianjin: Leaders at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) strongly condemned the terrorist attacks on Pakistan\u2019s Jaffar Express and in Khuzdar, pledging enhanced multilateral cooperation and concrete action against terrorism.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a joint statement issued after the Council of Heads of State meeting in Tianjin, China, the SCO leaders underlined that perpetrators, organisers and sponsors of such attacks must be held accountable, stressing that terrorism cannot be used for political or selfish purposes. They reaffirmed their commitment to deeper cooperation through SCO\u2019s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS), joint exercises, and new mechanisms under the 2026\u20132030 Program of Cooperation on Countering Extremism.<\/p>\n
The leaders also condemned the Pahlgam incident.<\/p>\n
The declaration, according to analysts, marks a significant diplomatic success for Pakistan as the joint text acknowledged terrorist incidents in Balochistan, where the India-backed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its Majeed Brigade faction have carried out attacks. Islamabad recently secured a breakthrough when the United States designated both the BLA and Majeed Brigade as Foreign Terrorist Organisations (FTOs), a move that underlines Pakistan\u2019s longstanding stance that these groups operate with external support.<\/p>\n
By drawing international consensus on the accountability of terror sponsors and securing acknowledgment of cross-border militancy in Balochistan, Pakistan has effectively strengthened its narrative within the SCO.
