New Delhi: India under Narendra Modi is facing a fresh diplomatic embarrassment as Jason Miller, a US-based political lobbyist hired by New Delhi for $1.8 million, met US President Donald Trump amid escalating tensions between the two countries over trade and tariffs.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, Miller \u2014 a long-time Trump campaign adviser \u2014 posted photos on social media with Trump, but gave no clarity on the purpose of the meeting. The development comes as Washington has doubled tariffs on Indian goods to 50 percent and imposed a punitive 25 percent levy on India\u2019s purchase of Russian crude oil.<\/p>\n
