Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has strongly denounced the installation of an Ashoka emblem at the revered Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, terming it a blasphemous act and a deliberate attempt to hurt the sentiments of Kashmiri Muslims.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, DFP spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal in a statement issued in Srinagar said that installing the Ashoka emblem inside the Hazratbal shrine premises was a direct interference in the religious affairs of Kashmiri Muslims. He demanded that those responsible for this act of sacrilege be brought to justice.<\/p>\n

Condemning the arrest of devotees who staged protests against the move, the spokesman demanded the immediate release of all detainees. He also called for action against the Vice Chairperson of the Waqf Board, saying she had acted at the behest of the BJP regime in New Delhi to deliberately provoke Muslims in the territory.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the DFP spokesman expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of lives and large-scale destruction caused by the recent floods in the Valley.
