Srinagar: Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, a senior leader of the National Conference in India\u2019s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and a member of the Indian Parliament from Srinagar, has said that a war has been waged against the identity, language, representation and religion of the Kashmiris so we need to struggle to change the entire system.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Agha Ruhullah addressing a public gathering and talking to media representatives in Islamabad district said that what happened in Dargah Hazratbal is in front of all of us.<\/p>\n
He said later the black law, Public Safety Act (PSA) was imposed on an elected member and thus a clear message was given to all Kashmiris that this law can also be applied on them. He said, “We are seeing what is happening in Doda and we have to fight for justice, fairness and respect and whoever raises voice in this regard, I am ready to support him.”<\/p>\n
He said mistakes are made by everyone but we should learn from them. “We have to take stock of our own conscience, we have to abandon fear and stand firm against barbarism,” he added.<\/p>\n
Agha Ruhullah said that the Public Safety Act (PSA) was originally made to stop timber smuggling, but now it has become a tool to intimidate people and target them for political revenge.<\/p>\n
He said that the National Conference had promised to restore statehood and repeal the PSA. “We should not forget that only by achieving statehood can we bring about real legal change. We will have to fight together to regain our powers and fulfill the promises made,” he maintained.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
