\"\"Srinagar, September 13 (KMS): Normal life remained crippled in Doda district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir for the fifth consecutive day today, as strict curbs remain enforced at various places to prevent protests against the detention of sitting Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Meraj Malik under the draconian Public Safety Act (PSA).<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party regime arrested Meraj Malik, the lone Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Doda in a blatant attempt to silence dissent and crush Kashmiri voices and shifted to jail on the pretext of maintaining \u201cpublic order\u201d. The authorities accused him of \u201cspreading misinformation\u201d and \u201cglorifying freedom fighters\u201d.<\/p>\n

Heavily armed Indian police and paramilitary personnel continue to patrol deserted streets, forcing shopkeepers to keep shutters down, while internet services stayed suspended and schools remained closed.<\/p>\n

Meraj Malik was taken into custody on Monday after he criticized the Deputy Commissioner of Doda for ignoring public grievances. His arrest triggered widespread anger and protests, leading to strict curbs, suspension of mobile and broadband services, and closure of all schools. Over 80 individuals, including women, have been arrested, so far, in the district.<\/p>\n

\nThe people of Doda are on the streets and their demand for justice is growing stronger by the hour.<\/p>\n

The authorities have closed schools, suspended internet and arrested over 80 people, including women, since Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Similarly thousands of Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders, remain jailed under draconian laws, yet their spirit for freedom remains unshaken.<\/p>\n

The Modi must know that the more Kashmiris are jailed, the louder their demand for freedom will roar and every detention only amplifies the call for justice and freedom in the occupied territory.<\/p>\n

MLA Mehraj Malik spoke for his people and the Modi government punished him for demanding basic rights for Kashmiris.<\/p>\n
