Chennai: Chief Minister of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah has criticised the use of the Public Safety Act (PSA) against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Meraj Malik, calling it a misuse of the law.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, Omar Abdullah speaking to the reporters in Chennai said there may have been complaints against Meraj Malik, using such a harsh law against an elected representative is excessive.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cLaw and order and policing are not part of the elected government\u2019s responsibility\u2026 Whatever complaints might have been there about the conduct of the MLA, the law that has been used to detain him is absolutely a misuse of the law and an excessive use of force against an elected representative\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Mehraj Malik, representing Doda constituency of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, was booked under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) on September 8 on grounds of his activities being prejudicial to the maintenance of public order.<\/p>\n
