Srinagar:\u00a0 The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has welcomed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for highlighting the Kashmir dispute during the ongoing 80th United Nations General Assembly session at the UN headquarters in New York, US.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in his address on Tuesday referred to the Kashmir issue in the UN General Assembly and said his nation was \u201cpleased\u201d with the \u201cceasefire\u201d between India and Pakistan after a period of conflict earlier this year. \u201cThe issue of Kashmir should be resolved on the basis of UN resolutions for the best interests of our brothers and sisters in Kashmir. Through dialogue, we hope this can be achieved,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement in Srinagar, said the speech is also an eye-opener for India, as the international community is no longer ready to subscribe to its false narrative on Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
The APHC noted that the Turkish President is well aware of how the Kashmir dispute remains the main source of tension between Pakistan and India. As an active member of the OIC Contact Group on Kashmir, Turkey has consistently advocated a solution to the dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, and Ankara can play a vital role in ending tensions in the region.<\/p>\n
The APHC also called upon UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant Security Council resolutions.<\/p>\n
It stressed that the resolution of the Kashmir dispute is imperative for the establishment of sustainable peace in South Asia.
