Srinagar: Political leaders including senior Congress figures and CPI-M leader M.Y. Tarigami have squarely blamed the BJP-led Indian government for the worsening situation in Ladakh region, holding it responsible for the killing of protesters.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Congress leaders in Jammu, including working president Raman Bhalla, chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma and other senior figures, said the BJP betrayed the Ladakhi people by failing to fulfill promises made over the past five years, forcing them into agitation after their peaceful satyagraha was ignored. They condemned Wangchuk\u2019s arrest as illegal and diversionary, stressing that New Delhi\u2019s arm-twisting tactics against the Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance leadership had proved counterproductive.<\/p>\n
The Ladakh Congress Unit also said the situation could have been avoided if the Indian Home Ministry had held meaningful dialogue in time, and demanded full compensation for the families of those killed and injured in police firing.<\/p>\n
CPI-M leader M.Y. Tarigami, addressing a press conference in Srinagar, said the crackdown in Leh was a continuation of the August 5, 2019 reorganization, which deprived the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh of democratic rights.
