\"\"Srinagar: Indian police raided the residence of a man linked to the proscribed Jamaat-e-Islami in Handwara, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the raid, which was conducted in Kohinoor Colony of Handwara town, was, according to the police, part of an ongoing investigation into a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).<\/p>\n

Police said that the house of the JeI leader Gul Waheed Butt, was searched in connection with a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) at Handwara police station.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe conducted the search at the residence to gather evidence in connection with the ongoing case,\u201d an officer familiar with the matter said. \u201cNo arrest was made during the raid and no recovery of objectionable material took place. The operation concluded peacefully,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Since the ban, properties linked to JeI leaders have been sealed, and many of its members or sympathizers have been placed under scrutiny.<\/p>\n

Over the past several years, the Indian police and the State Investigation Agency (SIA) have widened the scope of cases linked to JeI, with many raids carried out in districts across north and south Kashmir.
