New Delhi: Gitanjali J. Angmo, wife of jailed Ladakh-based activist Sonam Wangchuk, has filed a habeas corpus petition in the Indian Supreme Court challenging her husband\u2019s illegal detention.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, Gitanjali Angmo posted on X: \u201cIt is one week today. I still have no information about Sonam Wangchuk’s health, his condition, or the grounds for her detention.”<\/p>\n

The plea was filed through advocate Sarvam Ritam Khare. It is not clear when the plea will be heard as the court is on vacation.<\/p>\n

Angmo had on October 1 written to Indian President Droupadi Murmu demanding Wangchuk\u2019s unconditional release. In the letter, she decried her husband\u2019s \u201cillegal detention\u201d and the \u201cwitch-hunt\u201d she said he has been subjected to over the last four years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am completely unaware about my husband\u2019s condition. I was also told the officer would explain to me my legal rights. Even that has not been done till today. I am shocked and devastated,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

Sonam Wangchuk was detained in Leh in Ladakh, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, on September 26 under the National Security Act and subsequently transferred over 1,500 kilometers away to Jodhpur jail in Rajasthan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
