New Delhi: The lives of Muslims in India have become increasingly miserable due to anti-Muslim policies and actions under the Modi government.According to Kashmir Media Service, the Uttar Pradesh state government and the police have intensified their crackdown on Muslims under the Hindutva ideology.
According to The Wire report, meat shops and hotels have been closed in Muslim-majority areas since Mathura was declared holy in September 2021, which has severely affected the livelihood of local Muslims.
The police have wide powers under the cow protection laws, which are being used against Muslims. False cases, unjustified arrests and social discrimination have become common in the state due to which Muslims are in deep fear and are also avoiding eating or buying meat.
According to The Wire, anti-Muslim hate speech by Hindutva leaders in Mathura is also on the rise. Hindu extremist leaders call Muslims termites, while young Muslims are forced to wear saffron clothes with Hindu religious colours to avoid attacks by extremists.
Furthermore, garbage dumps are being placed near Muslim cemeteries and toilets are being built near mosques.
In some areas, encroachments on mosques, bans on the call to prayer, and demolitions of houses have also intensified, which are being described as part of the RSS\u2019s Hindutva agenda.
