Bareilly: Authorities in Uttar Pradesh have launched a bulldozer campaign targeting properties associated with renowned Muslim cleric Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan and his aides following the \u2018I Love Muhammad (PBUH)\u2019 march in Bareilly.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Bareilly Municipal Corporation and the Bareilly Development Authority, backed by heavy police deployment, demolished several structures linked to the Maulana\u2019s associates, including Raza Palace, connected to Dr Nafees, a close confidant of Maulana Tauqeer. The sudden demolition drive caused panic among residents of the area.<\/p>\n
Officials described the move as part of a \u201croutine anti-encroachment campaign,\u201d though observers noted that the timing of the action appeared politically motivated. Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar Maurya claimed, \u201cThis is a normal campaign carried out at regular intervals. It is not linked to last Friday\u2019s violence.\u201d<\/p>\n
A signboard at Raza Palace identified the building as the residence of Shoyeb Beg, son of the late Athar Hussain Beg, a former PCS officer. Simultaneously, the corporation carried out demolitions in a nearby tourist area, tearing down shops allegedly built over drains.<\/p>\n
