Srinagar: In yet another example of India\u2019s systematic drive to dispossess Kashmiris of their properties under one pretext or another, the BJP regime in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has seized agricultural land in Reasi district.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the regime has attached three kanals and six marlas of land belonging to Ghulam Muhammad Mirasi in Mahore area of Reasi district, under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).<\/p>\n
Police claimed that the property was attached because Mirasi\u2019s son, Muhammad Sharif Mirasi, is an activist supporting the pro-freedom and anti-India movement in the area and is currently absconding.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Indian police under New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha have also attached property worth about Rs 61 lakh belonging to Ghulam Rasool Dar in Vidoe Mishipora area of Kulgam district under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. \u201cHe is already detained at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu,\u201d a police spokesman said.<\/p>\n
Civil society members, however, expressed outrage that such actions have become routine in the occupied territory, where homes, shops, and lands are being confiscated on arbitrary allegations of militancy, anti-India activities, or drug trafficking\u2014without transparent legal proceedings.<\/p>\n
They said the Indian regime is using these operations as a cover to strip Kashmiris of their assets and hand over prime locations to non-locals under various guises, in line with its broader demographic agenda.<\/p>\n
While Indian police claimed the latest seizure was linked to narcotics smuggling, residents said the frequent invocation of NDPS and UAPA laws to target locals exposes the political motive behind the so-called crackdown.<\/p>\n
Observers pointed out that drug trafficking in IIOJK has risen alarmingly since the illegal and forcible abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A in 2019, with reports suggesting complicity of Indian military, SOG, and other agencies in the unchecked flow of narcotics through military-controlled areas\u2014a menace now being exploited to justify further repression against Kashmiri civilians.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
