Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has described the ongoing crisis in Ladakh as \u201cextremely unfortunate,\u201d saying the people of the region have been \u201cpushed to the wall\u201d due to the Indian government\u2019s failure to deliver on its promises.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Omar Abdullah said that the Modi-led regime in New Delhi had pledged to grant Sixth Schedule status to Ladakh but failed to honour that commitment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people of Ladakh have been pushed to the wall. Promises have been made to them but not kept. Unfortunately, this has become a pattern, particularly with occupied Jammu and Kashmir\u2014promises are made and then broken,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

Omar said the same trend of betrayal continues with Kashmir. \u201cYou promised us statehood, yet you are not fulfilling it. Is the intent now to push Jammu and Kashmir to the wall as well? Is this because our demands are being raised peacefully and democratically?\u201d he questioned.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister said both Kashmir and Ladakh were assured constitutional safeguards following the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, but those assurances remain unfulfilled. \u201cAll we seek is that those promises be kept,\u201d Omar emphasized.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
