\"\"Brussels\/New Delhi: The strategic agreement signed between the European Union and India on September 17, 2025 is being described as a blatant attack on international human rights principles and also being described as Europe’s support for Indian human rights violations.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the agreement, which has come out as the New Strategic Europe-India Agenda, is an attempt to give India a free hand to oppress the Kashmiri people, suppress minorities, and crush political opponents.<\/p>\n

The agreement includes deals such as free trade, investment protection, and geographical indications, but the agreement does not place any value on human lives.<\/p>\n

Analysts and human rights organizations have expressed concern that the agreement is tantamount to ignoring India\u2019s state repression and serious human rights violations, especially against occupied Kashmir, Assam, and other minorities.<\/p>\n

They said brutal atrocities against Muslims, Christians, and other minorities in India, including arbitrary arrests and mob violence, and Indian forces enjoy complete impunity under the black laws of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) but despite all this, Europe\u2019s strategic agreement with India is nothing less than a defeat for the global conscience.<\/p>\n

They said what is more worrying is that the agreement includes Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as Indian states, which is a clear violation of United Nations resolutions and international law. This move by the European Union has not only dealt a blow to the legitimate freedom struggle of the Kashmiris but has also exposed Europe\u2019s human rights claims.<\/p>\n

Analysts questioned whether the European Union is now speaking the language of interests instead of human rights? India is also pressuring Europe to end Pakistan\u2019s GSP Plus status so that Pakistan can be harmed economically.<\/p>\n
