Islamabad: Every year on October 27, oppressed Kashmiris across the globe observe Black Day to mark one of the darkest chapters in their history and to remind the world of India\u2019s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
According to the Kashmir Media Service, it was on this day in 1947 that India landed its troops in Srinagar and forcibly occupied Jammu and Kashmir \u2014 an act carried out against the will of the Kashmiri people and in clear violation of the Partition Plan of the subcontinent. This invasion set off a decades-long conflict that continues to engulf the territory in turmoil and uncertainty.<\/p>\n
The suffering of the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir began with the first footprints of Indian troops in 1947 and has only deepened over the decades. The Modi-led BJP regime\u2019s illegal abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A on August 5, 2019, and the imposition of hundreds of draconian laws under the unelected New Delhi-controlled administration have further intensified the oppression. These measures stripped the occupied territory of its special status and accelerated India\u2019s settler-colonial agenda.<\/p>\n
Once known as the \u201cparadise on earth,\u201d Kashmir today stands devastated \u2014 its economy shattered, tourism crippled, and youth suffering from widespread psychological trauma. Businesses have collapsed, homes are being demolished, and properties including land, shops, and offices are being seized. Local employees are arbitrarily terminated while journalists, activists, and political leaders face harassment and imprisonment under black laws, creating an environment of fear and total suppression.<\/p>\n
The BJP regime\u2019s communal and hegemonic policies have turned the occupied region into a garrisoned zone, deepening alienation and unrest among the local population.<\/p>\n
Pakistan has stood by the people of Kashmir since the beginning of their struggle. By observing Kashmir Black Day every year on October 27, Pakistan and the Kashmiri diaspora reaffirm their unwavering commitment to the Kashmir cause and send a strong message to the world that the people of Kashmir will never accept India\u2019s illegal occupation.<\/p>\n
The continued suffering of the Kashmiri people demands urgent international attention and intervention. This is not merely a political dispute but a humanitarian tragedy that cries out for justice. The world community must act to ensure a peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions, enabling the Kashmiri people to live in freedom, dignity, and peace.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
