Jammu: in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian troops and paramilitary forces have continued large-scale cordon and search operations across several districts of the Jammu region, including Rajouri, Poonch, Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur and Kathua.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, these operations reportedly target individuals and residents, who support the political demand for the right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.<\/p>\n
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, in a press statement issued in Jammu last night, said Indian forces are currently conducting \u201cover 100 operations daily\u201d in different parts of the region. He claimed that the operations aimed to \u201cmaintain peace and prevent militant activity,\u201d particularly in remote and forested areas where security challenges persist.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur forces are maintaining a heightened state of vigilance. These operations are part of continuous efforts to ensure the safety of citizens and to prevent any subversive activity,\u201d IGP Tuti said.<\/p>\n
However, critics and local residents have expressed concern over the scale and frequency of these operations. Human rights advocates said the military presence and daily searches have created an \u201cenvironment of fear and intimidation,\u201d with reports of homes being raided and civilians questioned or detained without clear charges.<\/p>\n
Several political commentators have described the ongoing measures as \u201cmilitary-style\u201d or \u201cwar-like\u201d operations, and said that the approach appears more focused on asserting administrative control than addressing genuine security threats. They contend that such military actions under draconian laws risk alienating local communities which further adding insecurity to the population in these areas.<\/p>\n
The occupied Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed an uptick in military operations led by army, paramilitary and police personnel in recent months, with officials claiming intelligence reports of potential militant regrouping along the Pir Panjal range. Despite these claims, IIOJK leaders and civil society groups have expressed grave concern over the worsening situation, which is adding to the fear and misery of residents in these districts.<\/p>\n
They said the BJP-led Indian government and its LG regime to adopt confidence-building measures and engage with Kashmiri leadership and Pakistan in a meaningful dialogue to resolve the Kashmir dispute\u2014stressing that such a political process remains the only viable path toward peace, and political and economic stability in the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
