According to Kashmir Media Service, JIH Vice President Professor Salim Engineer addressing a press conference at the party\u2019s central office in New Delhi mentioned three recent incidents, the suicide of a female doctor in Maharashtra who had accused a police officer of rape, a hospital employee in Delhi who was framed by a fake army officer and an MBBS student who was drugged and blackmailed. He said that all these incidents indicate a large-scale moral decline in Indian society. He said women in both urban and rural areas of India are insecure.<\/p>\n
He also expressed serious concern over the hate campaign, incitement and misuse of power in the Bihar assembly elections and said the subject of the elections should be the development of the state, health, peace and law and order and education and the Election Commission should fulfill its constitutional responsibility in this regard.<\/p>\n
Professor Saleem Engineer said voting is not only a right but also a responsibility as it is a means of strengthening democracy and establishing a just society. He said citizens should choose political parties and candidates on the basis of their performance, honesty and public issues such as poverty, unemployment, education, health and justice and not on the basis of emotional, divisive or sectarian appeals.<\/p>\n
The Deputy Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami demanded that the Election Commission of India strictly implement the model code of conduct to make the elections free and fair.<\/p>\n
The assembly elections in Bihar are being held on November 6 and 11.<\/p>\n
Secretary of Association for Protection of Students Rights (APCR) Nadeem Khan on the occasion said Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam and other innocent students have been imprisoned for more than five years in connection with the Delhi Muslim Kishan riots. He said this is actually tantamount to punishment through judicial process.<\/p>\n
Nadeem Khan said declaring WhatsApp chats, protest speeches and dissent as terrorism is a serious threat to the basic structure of the Constitution.
