{"id":187141,"date":"2025-11-04T09:55:28","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T04:55:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/?p=187141"},"modified":"2025-11-04T11:06:32","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T06:06:32","slug":"omar-says-his-governance-severely-undermined-by-new-delhis-control","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/2025\/11\/04\/omar-says-his-governance-severely-undermined-by-new-delhis-control.html","title":{"rendered":"Omar says his governance severely undermined by New Delhi\u2019s control"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-187142\" src=\"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/assests\/2025\/11\/xxx.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"372\" height=\"210\" \/>Srinagar: The Chief Minister of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, has said that his administration\u2019s functioning is being severely undermined by New Delhi\u2019s control over key governance and administrative powers, leaving the elected government with little authority in the occupied territory.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kashmir Media Service, in an interview with the Hindustan Times, Omar Abdullah decried what he termed a \u201clopsided distribution of powers\u201d between the elected government and the office of the Lieutenant Governor, remarking that when a government cannot even choose its own officers, \u201cit\u2019s not a pretty picture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the Raj Bhawan\u2019s hold over appointments, transfers, and disciplinary matters of IAS, IPS, and JKAS officers has crippled governance and eroded the authority of the elected administration.<\/p>\n<p>The National Conference leader pointed out that officers have been arbitrarily transferred to Ladakh \u201cas punishment\u201d for following the elected government\u2019s directives, adding that even his own office was threatened with such actions. He also criticised the manipulation of administrative structures to keep departments like the Information Department out of the purview of the elected dispensation.<\/p>\n<p>Omar Abdullah expressed frustration over the delay in restoring Kashmir\u2019s statehood, calling it a \u201csovereign promise made to Indian Parliament and the Supreme Court\u201d that remains unfulfilled.
