According to Kashmir Media Service, the webinar “Jammu Martyrs\u2019 Day\u2013 Remembering the Sacrifice, Renewing the Resolve” was organized by Kashmir Media Service and Radio Sada-e-Hurriyat Kashmir in Islamabad today.<\/p>\n
The speakers of the webinar included Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, Hurriyat leader Muhammad Hussain Khateeb, former Minister of Azad Kashmir Farzana Yaqoob, Information Secretary of Tehreek-e-Kashmir, UK, Advocate Rehana Ali, Lecturer in the Department of International Public Relations, Azad Kashmir University, Muzaffarabad, Madiha Shakeel, and Sialkot-based Kashmiri Dr. Zahid Ghani Dar.<\/p>\n
Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi in his address said that the massacre of Kashmiris, that began in Jammu in November 1947, is still ongoing. He said the Indian forces are still targeting innocent Kashmiris in the Kashmir Valley for continuing their struggle for freedom and committing grave human rights violations, with the aim of distorting the population ratio in the occupied territory.<\/p>\n
He paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of Jammu and reiterated his resolve to continue the Kashmir freedom struggle till its logical conclusion.<\/p>\n
Hurriyat leader Muhammad Hussain Khateeb on the occasion said the massacre of Jammu Muslims in November 1947 was not only in the areas between Sialkot and Jammu but also in other areas of Jammu by the army of the Dogra Maharaja, Indian forces and Hindu extremists.<\/p>\n
He said even today there is a graveyard in Udhampur in which the martyrs of the Jammu tragedy are buried. He said the Muslims of Jammu were punished only for their love for Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Farzana Yaqoob, Advocate Rehana Ali and Madiha Shakeel in their addresses said the history of Jammu and Kashmir is full of incidents of massacres of Kashmiris, however, the Jammu tragedy is the worst kind of it.<\/p>\n
He said the massacre of Kashmiri Muslims began on October 27, 1947, the day after the Indian army occupied Jammu and Kashmir, when Indian soldiers martyred several innocent Kashmiris in Srinagar.<\/p>\n
Dr Zahid Ghani Dar, whose parents migrated to Sialkot during the Jammu massacre, narrated the eyewitness accounts of the tragedy and said in this massacre, countless people, including his own family, were martyred and women were violated.<\/p>\n
The webinar was hosted by Arshad Mir, Editor of Kashmir Media Service. He said the discussion on the Jammu tragedy is not just a memory of the past but a lament for the present and a warning for the future that if history is forgotten, injustice will change its form and return again and again.<\/p>\n
It should be noted that Maharaja Hari Singh’s forces, the Indian army and Hindutva forces massacred lakhs of Kashmiris in various areas of Jammu in the first week of November 1947 as they were migrating towards Pakistan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
