Srinagar: Residents of Sopore, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, have resented acute water shortage that has persisted for decades, saying the crisis has made daily life unbearable.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, locals said they have been forced to depend on alternative and often unsafe sources of water due to the absence of a reliable supply. \u201cEvery year we raise our voices, but nothing changes. We are left to suffer in silence,\u201d said a resident. He said the shortage becomes severe in the colder months when the water pressure in pipes almost vanishes.<\/p>\n

Despite repeated pleas to the authorities, residents said, no meaningful action has been taken to address the long-pending problem. \u201cWater is a basic need, not a privilege. Yet we have been deprived of it for years,\u201d said another local, appealing to the administration to restore regular and sufficient supply without delay.<\/p>\n
