Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), workers associated with the Khidmat Centre Association held strong protest in Jammu against the continued apathy of the authorities towards their long-standing grievances.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesting workers demanded implementation of a permanent job policy, saying their livelihoods have completely collapsed after 16 years of dedicated public service.<\/p>\n
They said that Khidmat Centres have been providing essential government and banking services, particularly in remote and far-flung areas of the territory. Despite serving as frontline workers during major crises \u2014 including the COVID-19 pandemic \u2014 they are now facing an uncertain future after the cessation of banking services crippled their operations.<\/p>\n
The protesters lamented that the Jammu and Kashmir Bank, the designated Service Centre Agency, has failed to safeguard their future. Despite repeated assurances from government officials and multiple public commitments, no concrete measures have been taken to secure their employment, leaving over 1,100 skilled professionals in deep financial and professional distress.<\/p>\n
The Association stated that a permanent settlement policy is not only a right but also an obligation of the authorities who established these centres.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur demand is clear and just \u2014 implement the promised Permanent Settlement Policy. Until this is met, the Government must announce support of 150,000 per centre, per month, without any further delay,\u201d the Association said<\/p>\n
The protesting workers warned that if the authorities continue to ignore their plight, they will be compelled to intensify their agitation in the coming days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
