New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has called for a detailed discussion in the Indian Parliament on the worsening air pollution in New Delhi, questioning the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on what he described as a \u201chealth emergency\u201d.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a post on X, Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, demanded a strict, enforceable action plan to tackle the capital city\u2019s deteriorating air quality. He questioned why the Modi government was not showing any urgency or accountability on the issue.<\/p>\n
Gandhi also met several mothers at his residence to discuss the issue and shared a video of his conversation with them. \u201cEvery mother I meet tells me the same thing: her child is growing up breathing toxic air. They are exhausted, scared and angry,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Addressing Modi directly, Gandhi said, \u201cModiji, India\u2019s children are choking in front of us. How can you stay silent? Why does your government show no urgency, no plan, no accountability?\u201d.<\/p>\n
He said that India needs an immediate, detailed parliamentary debate on air pollution and the implementation of a strict, enforceable action plan to tackle this health emergency. \u201cOur children deserve clean air \u2013 not excuses and distractions,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n
