Indore: In a fresh admission of the Modi regime\u2019s ideological shift away from India\u2019s secular constitutional framework, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale has openly declared that \u201cHindutva is the soul of Bharat,\u201d calling for strict enforcement of anti-conversion laws across India.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Hosabale made these remarks while addressing the \u2018Pramukh Jan Goshthi\u2019 in Indore, held as part of the RSS\u2019s centenary outreach campaign. Representatives from various sections of society attended the event, which centred on further mainstreaming the Hindutva-driven agenda.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued by the RSS, Hosabale asserted that India is a \u201cHindu nation\u201d and claimed that Hindu society\u2014through its cultural and religious identity\u2014forms the essence of the country. He insisted that the core ideas of Hindutva must be imparted to the younger generation.<\/p>\n
Equating national identity with Hindu religious philosophy, Hosabale said, \u201cHindutva is the soul of Bharat,\u201d adding that God can be attained through \u201cthis path or that path,\u201d yet all such expressions remain part of one Hindu civilisation.<\/p>\n
Analysts say such assertions undermine the secular and pluralistic principles enshrined in India\u2019s Constitution, drafted under the leadership of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.<\/p>\n
On the issue of religious conversions, Hosabale advocated \u201cdharma jagaran,\u201d social harmony campaigns, and strict implementation of so-called anti-conversion laws\u2014statutes widely criticised by rights groups for targeting religious minorities. He argued that \u201cdharma\u201d cannot be changed, drawing an analogy between traffic rules and moral duty.<\/p>\n
He also invoked the RSS narrative around historical events, citing struggles during the 1975 Emergency and the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, and claimed that the organisation has carried out over one lakh service activities during its hundred-year existence.<\/p>\n
Observers note that Hosabale\u2019s comments openly contradict the secular, inclusive vision articulated by Dr Ambedkar and the framers of the Indian Constitution, and reflect the growing institutionalisation of Hindutva ideology under the BJP-RSS regime.
