Nanded: In a shocking incident from Maharashtra\u2019s Nanded district, a 21-year-old woman, Aanchal Mamidwar, has said two policemen abetted the murder of her Dalit partner, claiming that officers at Itwara police station provoked her brother to kill the man she loved.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Aanchal levelled the accusations a day after she \u201cmarried\u201d the corpse of her slain 20-year-old Saksham Tate, a Dalit. Videos of the grieving woman performing rituals beside the body and demanding strict punishment for her own family members have gone viral on social media, sparking outrage.<\/p>\n
Aanchal told reporters that on the day of the killing, her brother Himesh took her to Itwara police station and pressured her to file a false complaint against Saksham. \u201cI refused,\u201d she said. \u201cTwo police officials provoked him, saying he should go and kill the man I love rather than fight with others.\u201d She said Himesh then challenged the officers, saying he would return to the police station after committing the murder.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy brother was furious. He told them he would kill Saksham \u2014 and then he did. My only demand is that the accused, my brother and father, be punished the same way Saksham died,\u201d Aanchal said. She added that she has now \u201cmarried\u201d Saksham and will live with his family to support them.<\/p>\n
Police officials said Saksham was standing with friends in Nanded\u2019s old Ganj area on Thursday evening when an altercation broke out with Aanchal\u2019s brother Himesh Mamidwar. Himesh allegedly shot Saksham, with the bullet piercing his ribs, and then smashed a tile on his head, killing him on the spot. Himesh, along with his brother Sahil (25) and their father Gajanan Mamidwar (45), were arrested shortly after the incident.<\/p>\n
On Friday evening, as Saksham\u2019s family prepared for the funeral, Aanchal arrived and performed symbolic marriage rituals, stating that this would make their \u201clove immortal.\u201d Speaking to the media, she demanded capital punishment for her father and brothers, stating they acted out of caste prejudice and had repeatedly threatened to kill Saksham.<\/p>\n
