New Delhi: The Congress party has sharply reacted to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s accusation that the Opposition indulges in \u201cdrama,\u201d declaring that Modi himself is the \u201cbiggest dramabaaz\u201d and accusing his government of systematically trampling parliamentary norms for over a decade.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, in a statement on X, said that rather than addressing the real issues confronting ordinary Indians, Narendra Modi once again delivered his familiar \u201cdramebazi speech,\u201d deflecting attention from public grievances.<\/p>\n
Kharge said the BJP government has \u201cbulldozed parliamentary decorum and procedures for the last 11 years,\u201d adding that the list of such violations is long and widely known. He said the Modi regime must \u201cend this drama of distraction\u201d and engage in meaningful debate on unemployment, inflation, widening economic inequality, and what he described as the ongoing loot of the country\u2019s resources.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Narendra Modi had stated that Parliament is \u201ca place for delivery, not drama\u201d at the start of the Winter Session. However, the Lok Sabha was adjourned twice within the first hour amid Opposition protests.<\/p>\n
Kharge also highlighted that during the previous Monsoon Session, at least 12 Bills were rushed through \u2014 some passed in less than 15 minutes and some without any debate. He reminded the public of how the Modi government had earlier bulldozed \u201canti-farmer black laws,\u201d GST legislation, and bills such as the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita without proper parliamentary scrutiny.<\/p>\n
Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh also criticised Modi, calling the Prime Minister\u2019s remarks \u201chypocritical.\u201d He said \u201cthe biggest dramabaaz of them all is talking of drama,\u201d openly holding Modi responsible for the frequent disruptions in Parliament.<\/p>\n
Ramesh said it is Modi\u2019s \u201cstubborn refusal\u201d to allow the Opposition to raise urgent public issues that prevents smooth functioning of Parliament. \u201cHe always wants to have his way without giving the Opposition even the basic opportunity to have its say,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
