Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has termed December 6 a black day in India\u2019s history, when in 1992 thousands of extremist Hindus, under government backing, demolished the historic Babri Masjid, laying bare India\u2019s so-called secular claims.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi and senior leaders Muhammad Farooq Rahmani and Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, in statements issued in Islamabad, said that the destruction of the centuries-old mosque was a carefully planned and organized act by the BJP and RSS. They added that the heartbreaking scenes of the mosque\u2019s demolition remain etched in the minds of Muslims worldwide and reflect the deep insecurity, discrimination, and state oppression faced by religious minorities, particularly Muslims, in India.<\/p>\n
The Hurriyat leaders said that the demolition was part of a broader agenda to erase the religious heritage of Muslims in India, noting that under the Modi government, attacks on mosques, shrines, and dargahs continues unabated.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the leaders said that under Narendra Modi\u2019s Hindutva government, Muslims are being systematically deprived of not only basic rights but also their religious freedoms, as part of a wider plan to reshape the occupied territory along Hindutva lines. They pointed out that Kashmiri Muslims are often prevented from offering Friday and Eid prayers, while Indian forces raid mosques and madrasas, desecrating them. Raiding and locking mosques and confiscating loudspeakers, they said, constitute severe violations of religious freedom.<\/p>\n
The APHC-AJK leaders urged the international community, the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and human rights organisations to hold India accountable for its systematic oppression of Muslims, the denial of religious rights, and the grave human rights violations in IIOJK.
