New Delhi: In a shocking move exposing the BJP regime\u2019s deeper majoritarian agenda, party MP Bhim Singh has introduced a private member\u2019s bill in the Rajya Sabha seeking the removal of the words \u201csecular\u201d and \u201csocialist\u201d from India\u2019s Constitution\u2014triggering widespread concerns about the escalating assault on democratic values under the Hindutva-driven dispensation.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Bhim Singh told reporters in New Delhi that the two terms were \u201cunnecessary\u201d and were inserted during the 1976 Emergency without proper parliamentary scrutiny. He claimed the amendment was \u201cundemocratic\u201d as several opposition leaders of the time were jailed, and insisted that the Constitution should be restored to its \u201coriginal form\u201d as drafted in 1949.<\/p>\n
