Peterborough (UK): Kashmir Campaign Global organised a human rights seminar in Peterborough, the UK, in connection with the International Human Rights Day, with strong participation from councillors as well as the Kashmiri and Pakistani communities.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar, held at a local restaurant, focused on grave human rights violations, with particular emphasis on the alarming situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmir Campaign Global leaders Dr Muhammad Ashfaq and Zafar Qureshi attended the event and addressed the gathering.<\/p>\n
Other participants included former Lord Mayor Raja Akhtar, Councillors Imtiaz Ali and Aurangzeb, former Councillor Ansar Ali, Dr Azhar Chaudhry, District Councillor Chaudhry Ghaffar Shahid, Pakistan Muslim League-N President Raja Naveed Arif, Secretary General Naveed Mirza, Chairman Raja Javed, social activist Majid, Muhammad Tauqeer Chaudhry, central PML-N leader Dr Muhammad Ikram, Chaudhry Ishtiaq, Chaudhry Sultan, Advocate Raja Tasaddaq, and other notable figures.<\/p>\n
In his introductory remarks, Dr Muhammad Ashfaq highlighted the history of Kashmir, the background of the dispute, and the objectives of Kashmir Campaign Global.<\/p>\n
Kashmir Campaign Global head Zafar Qureshi presented a detailed briefing on human rights violations by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir, describing it as one of the most militarised regions in the world and urging efforts to educate the younger generation about the Kashmir issue.<\/p>\n
Former Lord Mayor Raja Akhtar said Muslim councillors in Peterborough Council should play an effective role in highlighting the Kashmir cause. Councillor Ansar Ali stressed unity as the key to a strong collective voice, while Councillor Imtiaz Ali, speaking on behalf of the Palestine Solidarity Council, said the resolution of both Kashmir and Palestine disputes was essential for global peace. Councillor Aurangzeb said the Kashmiri freedom movement could never fade as it reflected the destiny of the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n
PTI leader Chaudhry Ghaffar Shahid called for a clear and effective narrative to convey the reality of Kashmir to the world. In his concluding remarks, Tariq Jameel Raja, President PML-N South Zone, said the Kashmir issue remained alive due to the unparalleled sacrifices of the people of occupied Kashmir and stressed preparing future generations to carry forward the freedom movement.<\/p>\n
