Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has urged the international community to put pressure on the Indian government to settle the lingering Kashmir dispute through a peaceful dialogue process to ensure permanent peace in the region.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said that Kashmir is one of the oldest disputes pending before the United Nations for over 78 years and has claimed countless human lives so far.<\/p>\n
The spokesman maintained that Pakistan has consistently advocated the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the relevant United Nations resolutions. However, he said, this objective has remained unfulfilled due to India\u2019s intransigent attitude.<\/p>\n
The APHC statement said that the Hindutva-driven Bharatiya Janata Party regime led by Narendra Modi has crossed all limits of state terrorism in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a territory that has remained disputed since India\u2019s forcible military occupation in 1947.<\/p>\n
He strongly denounced the inhuman treatment meted out to the freedom-loving and peace-loving people of Kashmir by Indian forces in every nook and corner of the occupied territory.<\/p>\n
The APHC spokesman said that India\u2019s continued obstinacy remains the main hurdle in resolving the long-standing dispute and reiterated the Kashmiris\u2019 resolve to take their ongoing freedom movement to its logical conclusion despite relentless state repression.<\/p>\n
Reminding the international community of its responsibility, the APHC urged it to press for the holding of a free and fair plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir and to exert effective pressure on India to resolve the dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the relevant UN resolutions to ensure lasting peace in South Asia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
