Dhaka,: Bangladesh\u2019s Foreign Ministry summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma to convey its \u201cserious concern\u201d over incendiary statements made by deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently in India.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, Hasina, 78, fled to India in August last year following violent student-led street protests and remains there. She was sentenced to death last month by a special tribunal after being convicted of crimes against humanity. Bangladesh has repeatedly demanded her extradition.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Indian High Commissioner today to convey the Government of Bangladesh\u2019s serious concern to the Government of India for allowing fugitive Sheikh Hasina to continue making incendiary statements, calling upon her supporters to engage in terrorist activities in Bangladesh, aimed at derailing the upcoming parliamentary elections,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

The ministry reiterated its call for the \u201cexpeditious extradition\u201d of Hasina, along with former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, to face the death sentences handed down by the special tribunal last month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
