He emphasized the importance of distinguishing between friends and foes in the struggle. He pointed out that India has stripped the Kashmiri people of their fundamental rights, including their inalienable right to self-determination, while Pakistan continues to offer moral, political, and diplomatic support. Safi reaffirmed that India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir is both illegal and unconstitutional, and its forces are engaged in egregious human rights violations in the territory. He warned that failure to resolve the Kashmir dispute in line with the wishes of the Kashmiri people could trigger serious regional instability, including the risk of nuclear conflict.

Ghulam Muhammad Safi also noted that APHC serves as the legitimate representative forum of the Kashmiri people, and journalists seeking guidance on the Kashmir cause are always welcome to approach the Hurriyat Conference.

Mushtaq Ahmed Butt highlighted that India and its affiliated media are actively promoting a false narrative to erase the Muslim-majority identity of IIOJK and distort its demographic balance. He expressed concern that the media in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir has not consistently raised its voice against India’s oppressive and unlawful actions in the occupied territory. Butt called on the media in both AJK and Pakistan to amplify the true voice of Kashmir’s oppressed people and expose the grave human rights violations and state-sponsored terrorism carried out by India.

Senior journalists including Abid Abbasi, President of Kashmir Journalist Forum Irfan Sadozai, Muhammad Latif Dar, Maqsood Muntazir, and Sardar Nisar Tabassum also participated in the discussions. They proposed that the APHC-AJK establish formal consultative dialogues with the media, stressing that since the revocation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, India has imposed draconian policies that have severely restricted press freedom in occupied Kashmir. They called for the formulation of a comprehensive media strategy by the Pakistani government and relevant institutions to support the Kashmir freedom movement, and to strengthen the Kashmiri diaspora by providing them with a unified platform to advocate for Kashmir’s cause effectively.

The meeting was also attended by journalists such as Kashif Mir, Chaudhry Rafiq, and Hurriyat leaders, Zahid Ashraf, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, Imtiaz Wani, Abdul Majid Lone, Syed Gulshan, Zahoor Safi, and Umar Butt.

Islamabad: A delegation of senior journalists from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) visited the office of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter in Islamabad to discuss the evolving situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
