Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, weather-related disasters including floods and cloudbursts claimed at least 199 lives during 2025, exposing the vulnerability of the territory to climate change and the failure of the Indian-installed regime to ensure timely mitigation and preparedness.<\/p>\n

According to official data placed before the Indian parliament, 199 people were killed, 11,693 livestock perished, 8,404 houses were damaged and crops spread over 77,915 hectares were destroyed across IIOJK due to floods and heavy rains up to December 10, 2025. Jammu emerged as the worst-affected region, accounting for an overwhelming majority of fatalities.<\/p>\n

The scale of destruction has raised serious questions about planning, early warning systems and relief delivery in the occupied territory.<\/p>\n

Observers say the heavy toll, particularly in the Jammu region, highlights the growing impact of climate change in the occupied territory and the lack of effective disaster preparedness under Indian control.
