Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has strongly condemned the Indian occupation authorities\u2019 move to attach land belonging to prominent US-based Kashmiri intellectual and lobbyist Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the DFP spokesman, Advocate Arshad Iqbal, termed the action an act of vendetta, describing it as part of a broader policy aimed at silencing voices that have consistently advocated the Kashmiris\u2019 just cause at international forums.<\/p>\n
\u201cDr. Ghulam Nabi Fai is one of the proud sons of the soil, who has long been a fearless advocate for the Kashmir cause,\u201d he said, adding that such coercive measures cannot deter Kashmiri activists from pursuing the collective struggle for which the people have made unprecedented sacrifices.<\/p>\n
The spokesman noted that along with Dr. Fai, Indian occupation authorities have seized properties of several exiled Kashmiri activists and Hurriyat representatives solely for raising their voices for the voiceless in IIOJK and for seeking a settlement of the Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions. He also strongly condemned the repeated dismissal of bail pleas of Kashmiri detainees including two sons of Syed Salahuddin by a Delhi court, terming it an age-old tactic to prolong detention through delayed proceedings.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Kashmir Institute of International Relations (KIIR), Altaf Hussain Wani, in a statement in Islamabad described the attachment of Dr. Fai\u2019s land as part of a broader and systematic pattern of punitive action against dissenting voices. Wani said the coercive measures reflect a deliberate policy to curtail international advocacy on the Kashmir dispute and target activists challenging India\u2019s narrative at global forums. He emphasized that actions against exiled activists and Hurriyat representatives, including property seizures, have historically failed to suppress the broader movement, which continues to derive legitimacy from public support and UNSC resolutions affirming Kashmiris\u2019 right to self-determination.<\/p>\n
The DFP and KIIR called upon the international community to take serious notice of India\u2019s ongoing repression of Kashmiri voices and urged global human rights bodies to hold New Delhi accountable for its systematic efforts to intimidate and silence proponents of Kashmiri self-determination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
