Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter has strongly condemned the Indian authorities\u2019 move to confiscate properties belonging to prominent US-based Kashmiri freedom movement leader Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai and other Kashmiris, terming it an act of political vendetta, open state repression and a blatant violation of international law.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, in a statement in Islamabad, said that Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai is a distinguished son of the Kashmiri soil who has, for decades, fearlessly advocated the Kashmir dispute at international forums. He said Dr Fai remains a principled, steadfast and consistent supporter of the Kashmiri people\u2019s UN-recognised right to self-determination, and every attempt to silence his voice is, in fact, a failed attempt to suppress the truth.<\/p>\n
Safi said that India\u2019s policy of confiscating properties of overseas Kashmiri activists, harassing their families and exerting economic pressure is part of a well-planned campaign of state terrorism. He said the objective of such tactics is to silence the Kashmiri voice at the international level, but history bears witness that the more oppression intensifies, the stronger the resistance becomes.<\/p>\n
He further said that the Kashmiri people have rendered unparalleled sacrifices for their basic and legitimate right to self-determination, including hundreds of thousands of martyrs, thousands of political prisoners, enforced disappearances and collective punishments. These sacrifices, he said, prove that the freedom movement is not linked to any individual or property, but represents the collective conscience and will of an entire nation. Therefore, coercive measures cannot deter Kashmiri activists from continuing their struggle for rights.<\/p>\n
The Hurriyat Conference urged the international community, particularly human rights organisations, the United Nations and democratic countries, to take immediate notice of India\u2019s illegal actions.<\/p>\n
The statement concluded that India must accept the reality that repression, confiscation and intimidation can neither suppress the truth nor defeat the Kashmiri struggle for freedom.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
